Miguel Merino Vinas Jovenes Rioja

£25.00

Vinas Jovenes is the young vine bottling from Miguel Merino. Sourced from several vineyard where, in the last 25 years, they have started replanting vineyards in sites around the village of Briones. This is mostly Tempranillo with a little Graciano and Garnacha. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and then is aged in used barrels for one year. The barrels were previously used for their Reserva wine, and the staves are made from American oak and the heads from French oak. The wine is then bottled and left to age for one additional year before release. This wine easily qualifies as a Crianza but is not labeled so. This is a wine about the region and varietals first, not how it is aged. This young and fresh Rioja boasts bright fruit tones, subtly framed with oak and accented with herbs, spice, and earth.
