Dog Point Marlborough Pinot Noir

£36.00

16.5/20 jancisrobinson.com "From Dog Point’s home vineyard (vines planted in 1984 by the Sutherland’s house) in Marlborough plus Settlement and Yarrum vineyards. Quite a bit of fruit from the hills above the winery. 10 x 5 clone can have both green and black fruit character. 35% whole bunch to tone down the fruitiness. 18–20 days’ maceration. Then tank and then into barrel. 18 months in 30% new oak.
Rather perfect shaded garnet. Great balance of fruit and herbal notes. Very sweet, gentle palate. Lovely now but arguably a tiny bit short of tannin. Herbal note on the end."
